Located at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level, Ketep Pass presents a beautiful panoramic view of a typical highland complete with fog that embraces the body and disturbs the view.
While enjoying a cup of warm tea and roasted corn you can watch the panorama of twin mountains with your loved ones.
Ketep Pass is a natural tourist attraction that presents a beautiful panorama of mountains and knowledge about volcano.
It was H. Mardiyanto as Governor of Central Java who initiated this hill into a tourist destination on the Solo-Selo-Borobudur route and was inaugurated by President Megawati Sukarno Putri on October 17, 2002. With an area of around 8,000 m², Ketep Pass is equipped with viewing post facilities, Ketep Volcano Theater, Ketep Volcano Center, binoculars, Ketep Pass Restaurant, Pelataran Panca Arga, children’s playground, large parking area and prayer room.
The viewing post at Ketep Pass consists of two rectangular and octagonal gazebos.
In this gazebo you can enjoy the splendor of the twin mountains, Merapi Merbabu. The two mountains that stand aside look strong and mighty. Underneath it looks the expanse of verdant farmland and houses of people who live on the slopes of the mountain.
In Ketep Pass Magelang there is also a museum called Ketep Volcano Center which presents various information about Mount Merapi. Entering this circular building, you can see a miniature of Mount Merapi, examples of erupted waste rock from year to year, Garuda Peak poster (peak of Mount Merapi) with a size of 3 x 3, early warning poster of cold lava flood, photos of documentation of the eruption of Mount Merapi from year to year, as well as a setereoscope or tool used to see the results of aerial photographs into a 3-dimensional image.
The highest point of the Ketep Pass Magelang Tourism Object is found in the Panca Arga Court. If the weather is sunny and there is no fog or clouds blocking the view, you can see the beauty of the 5 mountain peaks from this courtyard. The mountains are Mount Merapi, Mount Merbabu, Mount Sumbing, Mount Sindoro and Mount Slamet.
While enjoying the natural charm of Ketep Pass, you can taste grilled corn and hot drinks sold in stalls in Ketep Pass. When cold air starts to come and your stomach is rumbling, you can eat rames rice, pecel rice, godok noodles, fried noodles, or chicken noodles.
Meanwhile, if you want to enjoy the beautiful rural atmosphere, you can stay at a homestay in the Ketep Pass area. Guaranteed you will get an exciting holiday experience.
