Gunungkidul is known as a barren and difficult water area due to its geographical characteristics, namely mountains. If driving during the dry season there is often found a stretch of teak trees that molt due to drought.
However, it turns out that Gunungkidul also has a waterfall attraction. The name of the waterfall is Sri Gethuk which is precisely located in Bleberan Village, District of Playen, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta.
Sri Gethuk Waterfall can now be headed from the city of Yogyakarta using private vehicles via two routes namely Jl. Majapahit (formerly Jl. Ring Road Timur Yogyakarta) follows the national road heading to Wonosari until you find the T-junction of Ivory (Playen) turn right past the center of Playen sub-district until there is a three-way road to Bleberan. Directions to the Sri Gethuk Waterfall are clearly displayed on each fork in the road. Or it could be through an alternative route Jl. Imogiri Barat-Panggang-Paliyan-Playen-Bleberan.
There are 3 water springs from Sri Gethuk waterfall namely Kedungpoh, Ngandong, and Ngumbul. The three springs flow into one and form droplets of water that fall from barren rock cliffs.
Sri Gethuk Waterfall is also referred to as Slempret Waterfall. The name Slempret itself comes from the legend that exists in Bleberan Village and is also inseparable from the story that developed in the community. Tells that the Sri Gethuk waterfall is a gathering place of the jinn.
One of the jinans who led was Anggo Meduro. This Jin-jin really likes music produced by gamelan. Many tourists or local residents who hear the sound of gamelan beaten but if approached there will be no evidence of someone playing it. As long as you maintain and do not disturb at this location you can travel comfortably.
